About Me

I’m Tom Dell’Aringa, a graphic novelist and author living in the Chicago Area.

I’m a lifelong comics, art and story lover. When I was learning to read, I’d sit with my mom and read “Snoopy and the Red Baron” out loud. Comics made me want to read, so I would read them whenever I could.

In elementary school, every time the opportunity came to order books from the book club, I’d order the latest Peanuts collection. I read the comics in the newspaper every day. At some point I found superhero comics and indie comics like Bone and Cerebus the Aardvark. There’s something about the combination of a good story and wonderful art that’s magic.

In middle school I discovered fiction and began to devour books in the fantasy and science fiction genres. Tolkien will forever be my favorite, but I have been inspired by all the greats we all know and love.

It wasn’t just the art, I also fell in love with stories. I really loved watching shows like Dr. Who, Thunderbirds, Land of the Lost, Captain Harlock, Star Blazers, and Speed Racer during the day and would head to my stack of books at night.

I finally put all these elements that I loved together in my first project, “Marooned – A Space Opera in the Wrong Key!” which ran for 5 years from 2007 to 2013. In 2015, I published my second graphic novel “Rock & Tin.”

I’m currently working on my third graphic novel “The Genesis Girl.” I have also finished the rough draft of my first full-length fictional novel which I hope to publish in 2019.
